EW! Pinterest is for Girls!

Yeah well, could be, but I suggest you suck it up!  Cuz' if you let a few little cooties scare you off, you're gonna seriously miss out!

I find that statement highly suspect.  Why should I listen to YOU?

Hmm.  Undeniably good point.  Because it could be fun?  Because it could quite possibly present some excellent opportunities to generate content marketing revenue?

Hmm. Well, revenue doesn't completely suck.  But WHAT IS Pinterest?!

It's another social network!  You like Facebook, right?  You like Twitter, right?

Yeah, so -  what is SPECIAL about Pinterest?

It's simplicity.  The clean user interface.  The strictly visual playground where users simply find stuff  they like, and pin!   See?  No brains needed!  Like a picture book without any dumb words!  Your kinda book!  Just loads of fun, fun, fun!   SWEET, right?!

Um.  If you say so.  But, why should I care?
Well, one, because all the kewl kids are doing it.  And two, Pinterest is clearly going to be epic.  And three,  if you're interested in the latest, greatest happenings on the internetz, getting traffic on the internetz, and/or making money from the internetz, this is an explosion you don't want to miss.  Not to mention, its already generating more traffic than YouTube,
Google+, and LinkedIn combined.   (Not bad, right? Eh? Eh?)

What-evs.  I still don't see what's so special about it.

Well, what's so SPECIAL, is that on Pinterest, anyone, (regardless of creed, friend status or circle, political party or association) can "repin" the photo of ANY other use at anytime.  Like, instantly. Like, magically. Highly repinned pictures are featured on  site-wide Pinterest topic pages, which in turn, serves to create even MORE traffic to the original PINN-OR.  Such potential for viral contagions has never before made me so giddy!  It's uncharted territory!  The possibilities are endless!   Case in point: I made my first board LAST NIGHT, and the results seriously rocked my world.   And like Tumblr or Delicious, it uses a browser bookmarklet, which allows folks to simply grab and post things as they meander about the fantastical World Wide Web.  #genius
My VERY FIRST Pinterest Board.

So, are you convinced yet?

You want in on the action?

Get it poppin off in TWO EASY STEPS, my friend.  1) Get on Pinterest (duh!)  and   2) Make your website and blog content as "Pinterest-friendly" as possible.   (Meaning: if people can't simply grab your shit goodies like a kumquat and toss them into their grocery cart, they're gonna just move on down the aisle and pick up some bananas instead!)
Say what?! "Pinterest-friendly?"  Kumquats?! I thought you said this was easy!  What in hell are you talking about?!
JEEZ! Relax yourself!  BASICALLY easy.   PINTEREST-FRIENDLY equals PINNABLE.  PINNABLE equals SHARABLE.   That's not so tough is it?   Fine.   For example, when women heart your kumquats, they want to taste your kumquats, correct?

You better be going somewhere with this.
Work with me.   Everyone knows that women are by nature social and good.  :0)    So, naturally, when women taste your lovely kumquats and find them delightful, they immediately want to share your tasty kumquats.

      You ARE a weird bird.

TO SHARE your tasty kumquats, they'll need tasty kumquat samples to give.  No samples, no shares!

      SAY WHAT?!!

Listen, you can use Pinterest to share blog or website content, but there are limitations. Since there appears to be no "self-promotion" allowed on Pinterest, the best strategy is to make your content as easy as humanly possible to shared by others! So help them out!    If you want the folks using social sharing sites to spread the love, they need YOUR SITE to WORK with them.   Use toolbar widgets, social bookmarking plugins to format your website to help Pinterest find and grab sharable bites of your posts and videos.   For example,
      • If you are a WordPress user, install a plugin that allows you to assign a pullable image (kumquat sample) for each and every one of your pages and posts.
      • Install a social sharing plugin like Digg Digg will make it nice and EASY for people to Pin your content.
      I kind of get it.
      Good

      But not totally.

      You're not alone.

      Great salesperson.

I do what I can.  It's a work in progress.

So, let's get down to brass-tacks.  What about THE MONEY MAN?

Pinterest isn't even out of beta yet, and yet they're already monetizing out of the gate. They've partnered  with SkimLinks which "instantly convert[s] any normal product or merchant link in... into its equivalent affiliate link as a user clicks on it."   Likewise, there seems to be no reason why users can't also be generating their own affiliate links.  There is no mention in the rules that says no ~ so until then.... could very well prove to be new, fertile ground for wildly successful content marketing...

      Fine. I'll try it.

      Must be my irrepressible charm.

      Sure.
      That's it. Bye now.

      BYEEEE!  xoxoxoxo,  MUAH!
