Monetize Video Curation? "Magnify"

ComScore Video Metrix reported that in September 2011, 182 million Americans watched about 19.5 hours of online video each, for a grand total of 39.8 billion (yes BILLION) views.   That is a lot of video consumption.  And that is probably also a lot of hunting and sifting of videos.  As video consumption and production continues to explode, we'll need ways to manage the sheer magnitude of content.  Queue the curator, the source that we trust, helping us filter out the garbage, turn down the volume, and pre-screen the noise.  Like article curation, video curation interests me - as does the potentiality for the monetization of those efforts.

By happenstance this morning, I stumbled upon a "cloud-based" aggregation/curation video service that appears to be a powerful platform to facilitate this process, Magnify.net.  Magnify's tutorials show an intuitive, drag and drop user interface, integrated video searches, customizable design capability, and a range of monetizable features, such as banners, and  Google Adsense for Video, AdBrite, Advertising.comDoubleClick capability.  Finally, in addition to using it as a video channel on your website, it can also be used as stand alone too.  Per Magnify's website Patagonia, Ted, and New York Magazine are all currently clients using the service to organize and display their website video collections.  The integration appears to be flawless.

Interesting.

As a small-fry, newbie, I'm most especially interested in that they offer a dirt cheap, parred down yet still robust sounding "Lite Package" with two choices:

    •  Lite Package with Ad Share
      • Ads split 50/50 between your channel and Magnify
      • 1,000 page views - $9.95 monthly
Or
      • Lite Package with Ad Buyout
        • You control 100% of display ad opportunities
        • 1,000 page views - $14.95 monthly
      Interesting.

Intrigued, I've started following creator Steven Rosenbaum, (entrepreneur, filmmaker, and digital curator) on Twitter,  as well as on Pinterest where he just posted a video collection (using the service of course) that has my wheels turning.

      Pinterest + Curated Monetized Video?

      Interesting.

In addition, Rosebaum has also very recently authored the new book, Curation Nation: How to Win in a World Where Consumers are Creators.

"Overwhelmed by too much content, people are hungry for an experience that both takes advantage of the Web’s breadth and depth and provides a measure of human sorting and filtering that search engines simply can’t achieve. In these shifting sands lies an extraordinary business opportunity: you can become a trusted source of value in an otherwise meaningless chaos of digital noise."
I sense this morning's unexpected discovery will continue to reveal awesome surprises.  Can't wait to learn/read more.
